  • Mokala National Park in South Africa’s Northern Cape province is named for the umbrella thorn tree. The park is home to a number of endangered species including roan and sable antelope. Sizeable populations of are doing well on the sprawling plains of the Kalahari sandveld habitat in the Northern Cape. Mokala is situated 80km from Kimberley in this dry, semi-desert region with its fluctuating temperatures and differing topographies.

We stayed at Haak en Steek Camp, tucked away in the bush, which offers unspoilt views over the nearby watering hole. Both Tsessebe and Matopi loops will reward you with great sightings.
