Matobo National Park was one of the pleasant surprises of our trip. It is one of Zimbabwe’s smallest national parks, yet it attracts scores of day visitors. Its main attractions are the View of the World, Cecil Rhodes’ grave and numerous rock art sites. At night, we had the campsite at Maleme Dam, set amongst massive granite boulders, all to ourselves. The hallowed atmosphere is almost palpable here too. The facilities, although dilapidated, were clean.
